Nate Clendenen is not one thing. He is many. A rare hybrid. Born and raised on the Mason Dixon line, in the middle of the American North and South. The corn and soybean fields end at the ocean and several of the world's greatest cities are only a short drive down the road. He is road worn and still bright-eyed... an innocent old soul.

Performing over the years with musicians of all genres, Nate Clendenen is steeped in influences all across the board. Rock. Bluegrass. Country. Reggae. Folk. Blues. He's been a professional musician and songwriter since the age of fourteen, has toured in Australia, Brazil, and to all corners of the Continental United States. Furthermore, Nate is a classically trained vocalist and percussionist, an award-winning bluegrass flat picker, and a bonafied road warrior.

These days you can catch him performing with several acclaimed outfits. Eastern Electric is his rock/country/blues band. Saltwater Stringband is Nate's bluegrass/old-time outlet. And of course, he performs as the quint-essential solo folk singer... no matter what style performance you see from Nate Clendenen, you are prime for a new take on many forms of American roots music. Averaging 150 shows a year in many parts of the USA, Nate is eager to continue expanding his musical reach. Look for him in your area soon...

Six years ago the band, "the Electric Co." was founded by songwriter Nate Clendenen, drummer/percussionist Sonny Martin, and bassist/songwriter John Sybert on Maryland's Eastern Shore. They played, traveled, wrote, recorded, and spent more blood, sweat, and tears than ever before. After hundreds of shows, thousands of miles traveled, multiple recording sessions, one dynamite debut album, and three lead guitar players, Nate and Sonny have moved on to form the fifth generation of their band... now called "Eastern Electric". Rounding out a cast of regional all stars is expert tasty music man, Kyle Coffey on keys, premier jazz/funk/rock MVP Charlie Greenhalgh on bass, and pedal steel twanger, Mr. Joe Esham. With the band's best and most solid lineup yet, Eastern Electric has been gaining serious momentum this year.

Saltwater Stringband (SWSB) is a high-energy, low-stress bluegrass group based in Ocean City, MD, USA. Originally formed in late 2010, Nate Clendenen (guitar, vocals), Darin Engh (mandolin, vocals) and Bob Wilkinson (bass, vocals), joined together over a love of bluegrass and a few beers. Over the years they’ve been joined by some of the Mid-Atlantic’s best pickers such as Sam Guthridge (banjo, vocals), Marc Dykeman (bass, vocals), Patrick McAvinue (fiddle, vocals), Lucy Cochran (fiddle, vocals), Joe Esham (Dobro), Dave Shepherd (upright bass), Robert Mabe (banjo, vocals), and others! No matter what lineup they take the stage with, listeners should be ready for spirited performances at every showing.

This band draws on lifetimes of musical performance in a multitude of genres, yet their focus falls on bluegrass and old-time music as it is steeped in the aesthetics of the tidal waters of the Eastern Shore... creating a hybrid testament to true American roots music.

We are very pleased to announce that in 2012, Saltwater Stringband took top honors at the 19th Annual Berlin Fiddler’s Convention Band Competition. In early 2015 they released a limited pressing of their first recording project. Entitled “8 Songs 9 Players”, it’s a collection of both original and traditional material, highlighting performances from all members of the SWSB family.

They've shared stages with The Seldom Scene, Larry Keel, Russell Moore and IIIrd Time Out, Lonesome River Band, Junior Sisk, the Boxcars, Chester River Runoff, Drymill Road, and many, many more.
